Daugherty Family Cemetery, 1965 Survey with Notes.
Located on private land in T5S, R17E, SW corner of the SW1/4 of Section 12 near Kent where John Daugherty owned land in 1913, the four graves were recorded in 1965 by Jill Nogle for Sherry Kaseberg who visited the site in 2005. This family plot is on what was “the Adams place” or “Luke Davis Place” near Kent, Gari Stroh III, Stroh Farms, LLC, in 2017. No trespassing, please.

[SCO, 24 February 1933: Pioneer of 1878 Buried Monday. The funeral of John Daugherty, one of the oldest pioneers of Sherman County, was held in Kent Monday with the Rev. A.A. McRea in charge. Mr. Daugherty was born in Iowa in 1856 and came to Sherman County in 1878, settling south and east of Kent where he owned land until a few years ago when he sold his holdings and moved to Idaho where he made his home with his niece May, Mrs. Benjamin M. Hawley. He died there February 16. Mr. Daugherty never married and the remaining members of his family are all nieces and nephews: Mrs. B.M Hawley, Melba, Idaho; Mrs. Lucy McDonald, Lyle, WA; Mrs. Frances Kulis, San Francisco, CA; Jesse Daugherty, Salem; and Winnie Yocum, Marysville, CA. Services were held from the church at Kent at 10 a.m., February 20 and burial was in the private cemetery on the homestead of the deceased’s parents southeast of Kent where the pioneer parents and their other children have been buried in earlier days.”] [SCJ, 24 February 1933; 1900SCVR; Mrs. Neil McDonald, Antelope, a descendant who lived on the Daugherty farm as a girl.] |
In 1850, William and Nancy (Bellvail) Daugherty, ages 27 and 26, their year-old son George and her brother James Bellvail 23 were living in Clinton County, Iowa.
In 1870 they were in Nye County, Nevada: William 47, Nancy 45, George 22, John 14, Sarah 12 and Andrew 8. Living in the next household were James Yoacham 31, his wife Mary 17, son W.S. 3 and daughter R.M. 11 months. By 1880, William 59, Nancy 57, Sadie 21, Andrew 18, Dougherty and their daughter Mary Yoacham 27 and her children were in Lane County, Oregon.
In 1900, John Daugherty was in Kent Precinct. By 1930 Benjamin Hawley 57 and May M. 50 were in Owyhee County, Idaho and John D. Daugherty 73 was living with them.
